Based on international statistics about 50% of non-clinical children populations have experienced at least one (and often more) adverse, often traumatic experiences. Trauma and the stress that relates to it, translates to different things for different people. However, among the student population children with trauma are overrepresented in learning and/or emotional difficulties and behavioural problems. All children are not the same when it comes to traumatic experiences, but all children matter in trauma informed education. Trauma informed education is about equity and social justice transcending systems, classroom strategies and relationships. We wish to help schools and schools professionals transform classrooms and their practice in line with this principle.
